Several complaints/reports have reached the Department of Tourism (DOT) regarding the unscrupulous practices of a certain DISCOUNT FAMILY ADVENTURE (DFA) TRAVEL & TOURS, INC. with website http://www.discounthotelresort.com/and www.balikbayantrip.com. Said agency is not accredited with the DOT. Likewise, the Local Government of Pasay City already ordered its closure. Please do not transact or do business with this agency.

Should there be claims against the said agency, the complainants are enjoined to file their complaint affidavit with the address stated below:

TRAVEL ADVISORY No.2

Travel to the Philippines remains safe and secure. Primary tourist destinations in Metro Manila, Cebu, Bohol, Palawan, Boracay, and the rest of the country are undisturbed.

As of Monday, 27 February 2006, business operations in the Philippines remain normal. The Philippine Department of Tourism, together with law enforcement agencies, continues to monitor all activities within the tourist destinations. No major cancellations of groups traveling to the islands have been reported.

The Philippine Department of Tourism, jointly with the entire travel industry, assures visitors that travel to the country remains safe and secure.

We wish to advise the traveling public that travel to the Philippines continues to be safe.

All appropriate government agencies as well as other law enforcement agencies have coordinated their activities to ensure the safety of all tourists. Tourist facilities, establishments and related services, including international gateways, continue to conduct their business as usual.

We therefore assure the traveling public and the overseas markets that the TOURIST DESTINATIONS OF THE COUNTRY REMAIN SAFE,  BOLSTERED BY THE INHERENT WARMTH AND HOSPITALITY OF THE FILIPINO PEOPLE.

TRAVEL ADVISORY

SECRETARY DURANO ASSURES TOURISTS THE PHILIPPINES IS SAFE

"The Philippines remains a safe destination for travel. The Valentine's Day bombing incidents, while unfortunate, are clearley isolated," declares Secretary of Tourism Joseph Ace Durano.

"We have always had security arrangements with the Philippine Navy and the Philippine National Police (PNP) to ensure the safety of both local and foreign tourists," he adds.

The Department of Tourism stepped up coordination with the PNP's Bantay Turista, the Armed Forces of the Philippines' Task Group Stingray, and the industry stakeholders to make certain that systems and procedures are in place to ensure the safety and security of tourists in the country.
